Solitaxi

Who's it for?
This service is for anyone who lives within the municipality of Braives and, due to a lack of personal transport or other means of transport, has genuine difficulty in travelling in order to:
  • Use the health service (doctors, hospitals etc.) and collect medicines (pharmacist)
  • Carry out official or service-related tasks (council, Public Social Action Centre, post office, bank etc.)
  • Obtain consumer goods that are indispensable for everyday life (food shopping etc.)
  • Visit people staying in certain institutions (hospitals, rest homes etc.) ;
  • Attend any other social event (recruitment interviews, activities etc.)
In addition, transportation can be provided for socio-cultural and other activities.

When?
Transportation is provided by an employee of the Public Social Action Centre (Josiane and/or Jeanine) who is especially assigned to this task. The SOLITAXI vehicle is used for transport. It is available all through the week from 8.30am to 10.30am and from 2pm to 4pm from Monday to Friday. Users are collected from and returned to their homes. Except for emergencies, you must request transport by telephoning the Public Social Action Centre at least 48 hours in advance.

Destinations?
The service will transport you to destinations within 15 kilometres. If you wish to travel further, you must place your justifiable request at least 5 days in advance. Transport within the municipality and environs are always given priority.
Cost
  • You pay EUR 0.20 for one person per kilometre, calculated from the point when the user is collected from his or her home to the destination and from the point of destination until the user is returned home.
  • You pay EUR 0.30 for two or three people per kilometre, calculated from the point when the users are collected from their home to the destination and from the point of destination until the users are returned home.
The SOLITAXI is a service that is primarily social in nature, with regard to both its intended users and the errands to be run. Thus, it must not be used in place of conventional taxis or ambulances or instead of services that specialize in transporting disabled or sick people who require special assistance in order to travel from one place to another.
